These
pages are experimental weather stations that Mike has put together
(Watson W-8681) and are completely driven by Linux Scripts primarily
developed by Jim Easterbrook (www.jim-easterbrook.me.uk/weather). We
are
indebted to Jim for the extra time he put in to help edit the scripts
to enable us to use an Ubuntu 6.06 LTS server.
I have installed similar weather stations on Graciosa Island in the Azores and at our home in Katherine, in Australia.
The data is updated every 5 minutes from the weather station to the PC
that processes it, which happens to be the IRLP Node PC. More info on
the IRLP from Mike's Ham Radio Website at http://vk8ma.shacknet.nu
Then the data is FTP'd to the Mike and Sharon website in Katherine in
the Northern Territory for processing into the web pages.
WARNING:
The data derived and published here is purely experimental and no
degree of accuracy is offered or inferred at anytime. It should not be
used in any life threatening situation and in general only be
used
as indicative of the conditions.
The stations are located at:
GRW: Santa Cruz on Graciosa Island in the Azores. The
weather station is located at 39.04957N, 28.00725W.
KTR: Katherine in the Northern Territory of Australia. The weather station is located at 14.2901S, 132.1638E.
